FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED
Once pre-orders for a specific day or item sell out, we will be unable to accept more pre-orders for that day/item. All hope is not lost, though! Limited quantities of pies, cookies, scones, muffins, savory hand pies (and more!) will be available in the bakery every day, first come, first served. In the days leading up to Christmas and New Years Eve, it is our experience that a line will form at least an hour before we open so we encourage you to wear weather appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes. CARING FOR YOUR PIE

Below are some helpful hints to keeping your pies fresh for serving.

Please refer to our Pie Care + Storage page for more information.

How long do your pies keep? What's the best way to store them?

We think our pies taste best at room temperature. We recommend you keep them on a cool counter, out of direct heat. If you won't be serving your pies for a day or two, you can also keep them in the refrigerator (in the box is fine). We recommend letting them come up to room temperature before serving.

The Apple Butter Custard and Cranberry Crumble are best stored at room temperature and eaten within 2 days of purchase. However, it can also be refrigerated for up to 5 days.

The Pfeffernüsse and Salted Maple are best stored at room temperature and eaten within 3 days of purchase. However, they can also be refrigerated for up to 1 week.

The Hot Cocoa Marshmallow is best stored at room temperature and eaten within 3 days of purchase. We do not recommend putting this pie in the fridge as the marshmallow meringue topping will deflate and lose its fluffy texture.

How long do the Holiday Cookie Boxes and Holiday Shortbread Trio Boxes keep? What's the best way to store them?

Our holiday boxes keep best at room temperature in the box they come in. We recommend you keep them on a cool counter, out of direct heat. If you won't be serving the cookies for a day or two, you can also wrap the boxes in plastic wrap. Both boxes are recommended to be eaten within 5 day of purchase.

Can I freeze my pie?

While we do recommend eating our pies fresh and within a few days of purchasing, many of our pies are suitable for freezing. We do not recommend freezing the Hot Cocoa Marshmallow due to its marshmallow meringue topping.

For proper freezing, tightly wrap the pie in plastic wrap twice. When you're ready to thaw, unwrap the pie and allow it to thaw completely at room temperature, on a cool counter (typically at least 24 hours). We recommend letting the pie come up to room temperature before serving.

Can my pie be reheated?

As a general rule, the Apple Butter Custard, Hot Cocoa Marshmallow, Pfeffernüsse, and Salted Maple are not recommended for serving warm (they will melt in the oven and won't hold their shape).

To warm the Cranberry Crumble from the fridge or from room temperature, heat the oven to 300º F and warm for 20 minutes, checking the pie by placing your hand over the center to see if it is fully warmed (more time may be required).

A SEASON OF GIVING

The holiday season is the time of year we gather with family, friends, neighbors, and good food. We reflect on the challenges and successes of the year with gratitude, and share a meaningful meal to celebrate.

Through our Neighborhood Fund, our customers have an opportunity to extend this reachThis idea was born out of our neighbors' generous offers to help pay for others' groceries during the 2020 stay-at-home order. We are now carrying it on to make sure our baked goods and grocery options remain accessible for all.

Funds raised here do a few things: subsidizes our neighborhood and senior discounts, replaces the giving portion of the Pie-it-Forward initiative, and in 2021, fund the start of a community fridge for the West Village and Islandview neighborhoods. Through a partnership with The Detroit Community Fridge, Planted Detroit, and Black Bottom Businesses, LLC, we have been able to use the Neighborhood Fund to purchase a fridge and freezer, as well as pay for professional electrical work for the location. The Neighborhood Fund is also used to subsidize regular food donations to the fridge.
